This week sees us waving our BASI level 2’s off in to the world of work. After 10 weeks of training, the guys and girls on the BASI ski instructor course in Courmayeur will pack their bags and start working as ski instructors… here’s a brief overview of their time in resort!
December: The group arrived in Courmayeur and started to get to know one another as they settled in to life in resort.
As with the rest of Europe, the snow didn’t seem to get the memo that resorts were open… BUT a few flurries of snow meant parts of Courmayeur and the Aosta Valley were open, so training could begin on time.
Unfortunately, December saw the first injury of the season – which meant one of lovely ladies had to travel home to recover. (Although, it is expected she will make a full recovery and shall return to resort to train again).
January: Wahooo!!!! The snow finally made an appearance in bucketloads just in time for the Level 1 exam – another year, another 100% pass rate – well done everyone!
There is no rest for the wicked, though, and once the celebrations were over for level 1, the group were quickly back into training for the level 2 exam.
February: With snow still falling and conditions just getting better and better, the level 2 exam took place during the first two weeks of February. We are so proud of all the Winter Sports Company BASI group for 2016. Most of the group passed every area of the exam and are now eligible to teach in Europe – in time for half term!
After 10 lovely weeks in Italy, it is sad to say goodbye for another year – Courmayeur, see you in 2017…
As we said, it’s been a BLAST!!!
