I have always really wanted to work in the outdoors and am passionate about helping people, so taking a huge step into the unknown, I booked a place on The Winter Sports Company ski patrol course with my sister, Jess. In January 2015 we packed our bags and jetted off to Panorama, Canada for the experience of a lifetime!

My favourite aspect of the course itself were the practical elements on the hill – not only was I enjoying myself, everything was so informative and it gave me a real taste for what it would be like to work there as part of their amazing team.

The most memorable parts of my training were the avalanche training and the chair lift evacuation practice, which literally meant jumping off a chairlift with only your ropes and knots to save you! Good thing they’d taught us well!

Since finishing the course, I have spent the summer months working as a pool attendant, and my sister Jess has been working in mountain bike patrol, both in the same resort as we did our ski patrol training.

We have both just been offered positions as full time members of the ski patrol team for this winter! All thanks to the training The Winter Sports Company provided us with – we couldn’t have made it this far without it.’
