Ski Instructor Courses - 4 to 11 weeks

Brochure RequestTrain to be a CSIA Level 1, 2 and 3 Ski Instructor

Tree Line Runs – Deep Powder Bowls – All Mountain – Park – Race Training – Back Country

Our objective at the Winter Sports Company is to deliver the best and most cost effective ski instructor courses available anywhere in the world.

To ensure you have the best possible chance of success it is important you spend as much time on the snow as possible, receive the best training available and have enough time to relax after a long day on the slopes.

High Level Training everyday

To accomplish this you will be trained for 5 hours per day at Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia, Canada. Sun Peaks Resort is a high level training centre, regularly conducting ski instructor courses for level 3 and level 4 instructors, as well as being one of the only international race training centres in Canada.

The Ski-in Ski-out facilities allow you to start and finish your day without the hassle of long bus journeys, so your days are shorter but time on the slopes is longer.

We have added additional modules to our training programmes including race training (with an option to race every Friday), all terrain skills, and snow park coaching. We have also included in the price a certified CADS course – which is an introduction to teaching people with disabilities.

CSIA Level 1 & 2 and CASI Level 1 & 2 Programmes

At Sun Peaks you ski or ride to work every day. No early starts, or buses to catch.

Welcome Meeting

On the first morning there will be an introductory meeting. The rest of the day we will spend showing you around the town, sorting out lift passes and meeting instructors. Those of you buying equipment will have ample opportunity to do so and will be able to take advantage of some of the great deals available.

Course Procedure for CSIA Skiers and CASI Snowboarders

On the morning of your first day of training you will be assessed and sorted in to groups according to ability.

  • Week 1-3, Level 1 instructor training. 25 hours per week.
  • Week 4, Level 1 instructor course/exam and assessment. Approx 25 hours. Snowboarders please note that helmets are mandatory for level 1 & level 2 exams.

Group Training Ratios

With an average of eight students to each instructor you will receive an exceptional level of personal attention, increasing your likelihood of success.

Outline

The course provides on-mountain training five hours per day, five days a week.

Skiing / Snowboarding Techniques

First instructors will assess your current ability. Then you will be taken back to basics and good habits introduced in to your technique. We build from there, using proven methods so your ability significantly improves throughout the programme.

Teaching and Work Experience

During the training programme you will be shown how to plan lessons and how to handle classes effectively. This will be learnt through practical situations while you are shadowing and teaching with an instructor and dealing with real customers.

You are encouraged to shadow an instructor as often as you can in order to gain as much experience as possible.

Customer Service Training

Becoming a good ski or snowboard instructor is not just about being a good skier or rider; it is about working with people. Customer service is essential and is highlighted throughout the programme and particularly during the level 1 & 2 course / exams.

Equipment Maintenance

Maintenance of your equipment is vital if you wish to get months of consecutive use out of it. We run a module on equipment tuning delivered by one of the equipment maintenance departments at Sun Peaks Resort.
