Outline
The course provides on-mountain training five hours per day, five days a week.
Skiing / Snowboarding Techniques
First instructors will assess your current ability. Then you will be taken back to basics and good habits introduced in to your technique. We build from there, using proven methods so your ability significantly improves throughout the programme.
Teaching and Work Experience
During the training programme you will be shown how to plan lessons and how to handle classes effectively. This will be learnt through practical situations while you are shadowing and teaching with an instructor and dealing with real customers.
You are encouraged to shadow an instructor as often as you can in order to gain as much experience as possible.
Customer Service Training
Becoming a good ski or snowboard instructor is not just about being a good skier or rider; it is about working with people. Customer service is essential and is highlighted throughout the programme and particularly during the level 1 & 2 course / exams.
Equipment Maintenance
Maintenance of your equipment is vital if you wish to get months of consecutive use out of it. We run a module on equipment tuning delivered by one of the equipment maintenance departments at Sun Peaks Resort.
