Forrest King – Snowboarder
Congratulations to Forrest who has secured a snowboard instructor job at Breckenridge, Colorado, USA for winter season 2013/2014.
Forrest successfully completed a snowboard instructor course with The Winter Sports Company in 2013. He attained CASI Level 1 and Level 2 snowboard instructor qualifications.
Forrest, 33, spent 14 years working for the water board in Stansted, Essex before embarking on his career change.
Forrest was a keen skateboarder so found the transition to snowboarding easy. He learned the basics in Livigno, Italy and went on to spend his winter holidays riding the slopes of Les Arcs, France.
Although Forrest can also ski he claims he ‘chooses to snowboard’. And his passion for the snow and the sport made him determined to find a snowboard instructor job.
On the 11 week snowboard instructor course Forrest learned to get rid of all his boarding bad habits, including counter rotation. When asked what he liked best about Sun Peaks Resort, he told us the powder was fantastic, but there was nothing better than riding the tree runs.
The three mountains of Sun Peaks Resort have wide, open pistes. Forrest remarked on how quiet the slopes were, and liked the lack of skiers on the hill – however, the best place to ride was in the trees that line every slope. Adrenalin rush………………..
So, having enjoyed his season of training in Canada, Forrest has his first snowboard instructor job in Breckenridge, USA. We wish him well and hope to see him back at Sun Peaks Resort one day to take his Level 3.
