CASI LEVEL 2 INSTRUCTOR

The Instructor Training programme I completed in 2007 was such a great course and a life changing experience for me.

Having had no previous snowboard experience, it was a big step for me to undertake, but the best decision I have ever made.

The running of the course was faultless and Karen and Steve were awesome.  Not only did I learn a lot from them, they made the whole experience a lot of fun…  They also helped me find work in other resorts and for the past two seasons I have been working at Whistler. This qualification has also allowed me to follow the snow and last season I worked in Mt Ruapehu on the North Island of New Zealand.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering a career in the snow sports industry

I trained to be an instructor in 2008 and Steve and Karen managed the course. It’s success was down to their hard work and commitment. They have kept in touch with most of us, and found instructor jobs for some.

I now work at Sun Peaks, and believe this is the place to be. No long bus journeys to the slopes, highly qualified instructors and fantastic terrain.

I trained to be a ski instructor at Marmot Basin where Steve and Karen were the managers. They helped us with everything we needed including the training as we only had about 3 hours per day. Journey time to the slopes was 45mins and the starts were very early.

The Winter Sports Company have really chosen a great place at Sun Peaks Resort. Ski-in Ski-out facilities have to be the best option and 5 hours per day training is fantastic. Training will be perfect and Steve will always help you to find work if you need it.

Karen and Steve were resort managers when I was taking my CSIA Level 1 Instructor award in 2008.

They were very attentive and ran the course efficiently and professionally, and were willing to do what was needed over and above to create the best experience possible.

Looking down from the top of a Canadian Mountain I was about to start my first mogul lesson. Steve's patience and professionalism was unwavering as he inspired and motivated the group through the terrain. As we overcame our personal fears, it wasn't long before we all had the technique to go off on our own.

The hands on management didn't stop at the skiing. We went to ice hockey matches, experienced Curling and many other evening activities.

The Winter Sports Company work on building relationships with the local community which allows you to access all areas and experience real Canada.

Instructor training would not have been as enjoyable without Steve La Borde. He was friendly, easy going and great to be around, while at the same time managing to be organized and helpful. If I had a problem I knew that I could talk to Steve and he would do everything in his power to help.

On the mountain he's fun to ski with, whether training or just shredding around the hill. After the course he's kept in touch and has always been there to give me advice and help on how and where to look for work.
