From Foundation to Freeride Mastery

The journey begins with a couple of weeks refining your on-piste technique, providing a solid foundation and an optional opportunity to complete your CASI Level 1 certification. This phase is designed to build confidence, ease you onto the board, and prepare you for the adventures ahead.

From there, the focus shifts to exhilarating freeriding and essential backcountry skills. Dive into a comprehensive 4-day Wilderness NUEC 2 First Aid course, avalanche training, search and rescue techniques, and backcountry guiding and touring. Accommodation

We have two options to choose from to cater to people’s budgets and needs. Depending on how early you book, you may have the opportunity to stay in a large 6-bedroom house or a hostel in the centre of town. Each is a short walk to the restaurants and shops of Revelstoke. There are double and quad occupancy rooms depending on budget.

The House is equipped with a hot tub on the grounds, a fully equipped boot room and workbench downstairs, and a great communal space around a large sociable kitchen for everyone to find a place to chill out, watch a movie, or enjoy some laughs from the day’s events.

A Freeriding Mecca

A melting pot for pro’s and powder junkies. Revelstoke is a relatively new resort but has quickly made a name for itself as a venue for the pros and powder junkies. A towering presence, After 2 Gondolas, you are still nowhere near the top of this impressive mountain. It has the longest vertical drop in North America, with a great vibe on and off the mountain.

Vast terrain with easy access to the backcountry and industrial amounts of snow ensures this is a must-see for any enthusiast. The town is considered to have one of the best collections of eateries on the Powder Highway, with influences from all over the world.

More Than Just The Snow

One of the most interesting North American towns, steeped in history and fueled by a new awakening for the nearby monster terrain of Revelstoke and beyond. With the neighbouring Rogers Pass and Ghost Peak providing awesome backdrops, the town itself doesn’t disappoint either.

Plenty of varied restaurants and takeaways are not often found this far north in one town, you can explore menus from the middle east to India, Asia to Mexico and of course some of the best Canadian mountain food on the Powder Highway.

With a truly great vibe, it’s hard not to fall in love with the place.

In House Chef

Delicious home-prepped food. This is something we take very seriously, you need the energy to be able to hit the mountain with everything you have got. So our in-house chef will keep you fueled. If you have dietary requirements, this can be accommodated. Dining will be family style for the 4 breakfasts & dinners you will receive per week. Outside of this, you are welcome to use the kitchen facilities.

Since you are within walking distance from all the restaurants, you may choose to eat out and sample the international cuisine that Revelstoke has welcomed into its community.

What is Included

Airport Transfers

Transfers are included with your package when taking a flight with us. If you choose to arrive separately a free transfer is still available, as long as you are at the airport at the same time as the main arrival group. For transfers outside of this there may be a supplement charge.

Resort Shuttle

Daily shuttle to and from the slopes. Transport takes approximately 7-10 mins between town and resort.

Season Lift Pass

A season long lift pass means if you want to come out early, or extend your stay then your lift pass will be valid. You also get extra discounts around the resort and reciprocal deals at other resorts.

Accommodation

Rest easy in our shared 6-bedroom heritage house, ideally located just 2 minutes from the centre of town. Family-style living with large communal spaces. Great for socialising and chilling out. Late bookers will be in hotel/hostal style accommodation

Breakfasts and Dinners

4 breakfasts and dinners are provided every week of your stay. Using an in-house trained chef, you can supplement these delicious meals with trips into town. There are plenty of places to get a hearty meal from all corners of the globe. Self catered options maybe available upon request.

Demo Day

One of your first days in the resort will be about trying different equipment and having the chance to buy an extra snowboard to complete the expanding quiver!

 

Training Package

All 11 weeks of training previously mentioned is included with the option to add or upgrade some of the elements to a higher certification. Your training and certifications are offered by industry professionals always acting under governing body credentials. Safety is their priority above all else.

CASI Exams & Membership

If you have opted to take the CASI Level 1 exam, then membership to CASI will be included.

NUEC Level 2

The Non Urban Emergency Care level 2 (Intermediate) certificate is included in the 4 day first aid course upon successful completion.

Shadow Teaching

Shadow Teaching is available to all those who hold a Level 1 CASI qualification. If lessons allow, we can arrange these sessions given enough notice. They are a great way to see how a lesson is conducted and assist in the day’s events if appropriate.

Bolt-Ons

Our Bolt-ons are our way of offering you ancillary courses to complement your main programme. Each varies in duration and cost and will be available to book in your onboarding. These can range from Avalanche training to advanced snowboard progression, Trips to Kicking Horse and Sun Peaks, or the more adventurous heli-skiing and backcountry lodge stays.

Video Analysis

Well, it is the digital age! Instructors will utilise all the equipment available to provide you with a visual understanding of your riding.

Resort Rep

Sometimes overlooked but one of the most important parts of your stay. Reps are knowledgeable and experienced skiers and boarders, often having completed their instructor tickets previously or might even be the directors. They support you all the way, making sure everything runs smoothly in the resort.

Extra Weeks

Extra weeks are available to add if you can’t get enough of the fun and want to stay longer, but this needs booking well in advance and depends on the courses running. We also have space available if you want to arrive in early December and have the hot tub all to yourself.

Regular Team Socials

Plenty is going on up in the resort and down in town to keep you occupied and entertained, especially on festival days, but if it’s too much effort after a hard day on the slopes, then feel free to soak your troubles away in the hot tub with a beer in hand. Between the Ice Hockey, Friday night events and regular crew meet-ups, there is enough for those social butterflies.

On-Piste Technical Training

Technical specialised training designed for Winter Sports by the Revelstoke Snow school. On Snow Training is provided by highly experienced freeride instructors. Their main goal is to eliminate lousy riding habits, strengthen your technique, and improve consistency for upcoming events. A season pass will allow you full access to the mountain through and beyond your course in case you want to stay on for longer, which inevitably happens!

 

Off-Piste Tactical Training

This period is about forging new skills and building on existing talent. Gain tactics and tools for developing off-piste riding skills in various environments. Develop terrain adaptation and awareness in a changing mountain environment and understand steep terrain, deep snow, glades, ungroomed conditions, bumps, and low visibility conditions.

 

NUEC I (Level 2)

A fast-paced, practical-based 4-day curriculum intended for those who operate in remote areas for multiple-day trips or work in conjunction with a tiered response system such as ski patrol or search & rescue teams. This program is intended to give the participants the knowledge and skills to evaluate medical emergencies and make decisions concerning field treatment and evacuation priorities. You can upgrade to NUEC A (Level 3) if booked early or logistics allow.

 

CASI Level 1 

The first step in a four-level system. Level 1 qualifies you to teach children and adults from a beginner level to an intermediate. During your training and exam, you will be exposed to CASI riding and teaching methodology and learn what it means to be a snowboard professional. This is an optional 3 days and not mandatory. Individuals can pay for this separately.

 

CASI Level 2

Those choosing to stay on after the 11 weeks can either free ride and enjoy the Spring conditions and the laid-back atmosphere or keep your nose to the grindstone and attempt a compressed Level 2 training programme over 3 weeks focusing purely on instructor techniques to fast-track you through the syllabus, culminating in the CASI Level 2 exams.

 

Mountain Operations Training

Revelstokes very own Ski Patrol Team will show you a glimpse of their world over the final 7 weeks, showing you all the skills that they’ve honed over the years, giving you practical knowledge and vital skills that they utilise throughout their Winter & Summer seasons, rescuing the general public both on skis or mtb bikes. Take in as much as you can from these highly skilled individuals as they imbibe you with topics covering tree wells, rope skills, challenging first-aid scenarios, survival skills, weather analysis, GPS navigation, radio comms and evacuation techniques often used on a seasonal basis.

 

Avalanche Skills Training

In AST 1, you’ll learn to recognize avalanche terrain, understand the forecast, plan your trips, and perform a companion rescue. Understanding the snowpack and dealing with rescue techniques using your probe, shovel and transceiver. See below for our upgrade option for those early bookers.

 


Companion Rescue

The Companion Rescue Skills course is an essential refresher for those with previous training and a great way to improve the rescue skills you learned in your AST 1. This hands-on, one-day course takes place in the field and delves into multiple casualty rescue scenarios, building on your existing knowledge of the terrain and equipment.

 


Intro To Touring & Backcountry Guiding

RMR’s fully qualified ACMG guides will teach you about snow safety and familiarisation with equipment to prepare you for your first guided introductory backcountry tour. Further into the course, you will develop techniques to understand terrain assessment, hazard analysis and trip planning. More guided backcountry tours and a visit to the helipad for a Helicopter pickup run-through and familiarisation. This is essential if deciding on any future heli-assisted Bolt ons or activities.

 


Additional Training Option – ASVAR Level 1

ASVAR Level 1 – Option to upgrade the AST training to the professional Canadian Avalanche Association’s Avalanche Search & Rescue) £950. 4 days in person, mandatory online pre-course, written and practical assessment. This is a serious Avalanche programme that lasts for over four intense days. Please decide if you want this option in advance, as it books up quickly.

 

Weekly Schedule

 As your confidence builds, so does the intensity of the training. Advanced techniques are introduced progressively, ensuring you’re constantly challenged but never overwhelmed. Throughout the course, you’ll have the opportunity to take extra Bolt On courses such as heli-assisted backcountry touring or Cat skiing.

The latter 2/3rds of the course focuses on free-riding, powder, and backcountry skills. You’ll gain immense confidence across all terrain and in all conditions, equipped with practical knowledge to navigate safely and efficiently. This course promises to be an enriching experience, empowering you with the skills to thrive in both on and off-piste environments, in and out of bounds and marking your transition from a confident on-piste skier to a versatile mountain expert.

Bolt On Courses

The Bolt-ons are the point where you can turn your already stellar winter season into something truly unforgettable. Whilst some are devised to enhance your CV, some enhance your smile. The Heliski experience will have you grinning from ear to ear all the way back home through your front door. So decide what is critical for you, an adrenaline ride, gap year, career-breaking, mid-life crisis-soothing adventure? Or something that will put another few dollars on your wages and make your instructor’s resume stand out?

Please note some, not all of these ancillary offerings are already included in your course.  Booking is done separately. It is a simple, transparent method so you can cherry-pick what you want and, more importantly, not be forced into paying over the odds for something you do not want.

Tree Wells & All Mountain Safety

An absolutely serious must-do, one-day course for all skiers and snowboarders who venture off the groomed runs. In our opinion, everyone should do this course; they are some of the closest dangers and yet the most overlooked. Learn about how tree wells form and safe riding through the trees.  What action to take if you fall into a tree well, and how to rescue someone. Additionally, this course will introduce you to often overlooked hazards that one may encounter, such as cold exposure injuries, variable snow conditions and more.

Intro to Backcountry Skills

During this 2-day course, you will spend time doing both on & off-piste technical training. You will develop a strong understanding of advanced technical concepts and learn about tactics and tools for developing off-piste skiing/riding skills in various environments. You will ski steep terrain, deep snow, glades, un-groomed conditions, bumps, and low visibility, to help gain knowledge in terrain adaptation and awareness in a changing mountain environment. Over the course, you will become familiar with your equipment and will be assessed in terrain analysis, hazard analysis, and trip planning to ensure safety when skiing the backcountry. Equipment (powder skis, skins, snowshoes, split board) are not included. You must have also completed the AST 1 & Companion rescue to take part in this.

NUEC I (Level 2)- Emergency Response First Aid

The two or four-day first aid course will provide the necessary training for those working in remote areas giving them the knowledge and skills to evaluate medical emergencies, decide the best course of action and triage, treat and evacuate the patient. Perfect for those working as instructors, guides, safety patrollers, and forestry. Topics will include but are not limited to life-limb-threatening injuries, CPR, survival skills, critical decision-making, stretcher use and other common scenarios experienced in these industries. Great to have on your CV and a fantastic introductory skill set for becoming a ski patroller or backcountry guide aiming for their NUEC Level 3.

Dog Sledding

The resort and nearby terrains offer an exhilarating dog sled adventure. You will meet the team and learn everything you need to know about dog sledding tours in Canada before heading out for a thrilling experience across beautiful landscapes. All sleds are guided, and the tour allows 30 to 40 minutes of sled time through majestic lodgepole pine trees. In return, you will get to thank the dogs by giving them lots of cuddles and snacks.

Ice Hockey Match

Watching ice hockey is a must for anyone spending significant time in Canada. As the national sport, you'll be hard-pressed to avoid it. It is on screens in bars and restaurants everywhere you turn! So, as a group, we will take a bus trip down to watch the game and get a bite to eat. It will be a fun night out that you won't want to miss! This is organized in the resort, and if you are in Panorama or Revelstoke, it's a weekly event. If you are at Sun Peaks, it's a once or twice a season event. Check out a previous Ice Hockey trip. 

Heli Ski Trip

Heli-skiing is, quite simply put, the ultimate off-piste experience - perfect for freeskiers/riders, thrill-seekers and powder lovers. The adrenaline rush as you board the helicopter is nothing compared to the breathtaking views as you fly over the mountains. 3-5 runs into pristine powder fields. It's enough to put a grin on your face for months. Ultimate bragging rights. Make sure you take a Go-pro or pay for extra footage. Equipment is included, but make sure you have insurance to cover you. Extra insurance can be arranged. Sun Peaks clients must do the Revelstoke trip to do this.

First Tracks & Best Bits

You could spend all season in the resort and still miss these little gems. Your guide for the day knows every nook and cranny of the mountain. This is a non-training day, but by the end of it, you will know all the local knowledge on every section of the mountain. Knowing which slopes are best in certain conditions. Knowing what the local dangers or difficulties are in each area of the mountain. Finding the best runs through the trees. It's best done early in your programme so that you can get the most out of your time in the resort armed with a new sense of your surroundings. There is no better way to start the day than as VIPs and being the first ones up the lift for some First Tracks.

Ski & Board Tech Tips

Learn how to get the most out of your equipment from the pros. An evening in the workshop. Makes a great present for someone and gives them the knowledge on how to look after their equipment, tune it for the conditions and cover the overall safety aspects of your settings.

Off-Piste Tactical Training

This course offers a blend of coaching geared towards boosting your technique off-piste, allowing you to charge through the conditions and terrain confidently. It includes a basic understanding of the terrain's pitfalls and how to choose a successful track, taking into account the local dangers. You will also understand how to alter your stance and commitment when carving a path off the beaten track. We try to run this on a powder day but cannot guarantee this. This often books up early.
