Located under a four hour drive away (300km) from Calgary airport, Alberta, Panorama Mountain Resort is a hidden gem. Nestled in the Purcell Mountain range, a subsection of East Kootenays, British Columbia.
Panorama boasts expertly groomed slopes, extensive backcountry terrain of alpine bowls, trees, chutes and steeps, celebrated by its famous Taynton Bowl. This terrain makes Panorama the perfect place to take the Ski Patrol Course certification or take your free-riding skills to the next level.
Panorama also gets regular dry fresh snowfall – totalling around 5 metres each year. All this combined with spectacular views make Panorama a unique mountain experience.
We’ve been operating our ski and snowboard instructor courses at Panorama for over ten years. It’s one of most accessible mountain resort experiences; everything you need is conveniently closely situated.
The accommodation of the Pine Inn, or Toby Horsethief Lodge are located in the village, providing fast access to the main chairlifts to get you onto the mountain quicker. The village will be full of friendly faces with whom to enjoy the restaurants, bars, and views in no time. A fantastic retail ski and snowboard shop is there for all your new kit, and things you forgot!
You will get breakfast and dinner four times a week if you are on the internship course. If you are following an Instructor course, it’s self-catered. Choose breakfast, lunch and dinner from the selection of fine eateries and faster takeaways in the resort. A special mention for Chopper’s Landing restaurant at the RK Heliski port, where you can watch the helicopters fly in and out and chat with mountain guides and skiers who have just spent a day in deep backcountry powder.
During the day, there are enough places on the mountain day to grab a coffee and enjoy the stunning views. Happy hour every night at the Jackpine Pub make this a popular venue for our trainees, and there is trivia night every Sunday to test your knowledge!
