It’s easy to see how Panorama got its name. Located under a four hour drive away from Calgary airport, Panorama is a hidden gem. Nestled deep in the Purcell Mountain range, it has one of the most stunning back drops you’ll find in the whole of British Columbia.
Boasting expertly groomed slopes and an extensive backcountry of alpine bowls, trees, chutes and steeps, Panorama gives you more than enough terrain to stop you ever becoming bored. Combined with its famous off piste Taynton Bowl and huge vertical, one of the biggest in North America, it makes for some challenging runs. But when mixed with the open groomed lower slopes and incredible space, its the perfect training ground for our courses.
Panorama is used by hundreds of elite class ski racers from around the world to train before the season starts in earnest. Host of the Junior World Championships is just another trophy on the shelf for the ever-impressive Panorama Mountain resort and bares testament to how incredible the mountain is.
We’ve been operating our ski and snowboard instructor courses at Panorama for over ten years. It’s one of most accessible mountain resort experiences; everything you need is conveniently closely situated.
Choose from slopeside accommodation, or in the nearby neighbouring town of Invermere. With a relatively small village feeling dominated by a striking backdrop vs living in a working town such as Invermere with all the trappings of a local Canadian town, it’s hard to decide what is best. So we’ve offered both. Often mixing up the accommodation to suit the program. Regardless, with 3000 beds vs 3000 acres of skiable terrain there is plenty of room for everyone.
The Jack Pine, T-bar, Alto’s, and Fireside cafe provide some of the meals and entertainment whilst in the resort. Often with a lively vibe and friendly atmosphere you can soak up the apres-ski, or head into town. Grab all you can eat Chicken wings, Sushi, Chinese, Pizza before you party the night away in the Ullr Bar.
Panorama isn’t just about the skiing, although it’s pretty hard to beat. From the largest thermal hot springs in a Canadian resort, to the longest natural frozen ice rink, Panorama and the nearby town of Invermere and Lake Windermere have a lot to offer away from the Mountain.
For those rest days off snow, take the 20 minute free bus ride to the vibrant town of Invermere. Enjoy the life of a town with a sports centre, curling rink, ice rink, cinema, pubs, restaurants and cafes. Go dog sledding, snowmobiling or Paragliding, or simply head to the Lake for a skate and barbecue.
If you can’t stay away from the mountain and are still searching for another adrenaline rush? RK Heliskiing is located in the resort to take you up and away to powder hound heaven.
