Why don’t you check out our new Blog…… Chasing The Winter – Skiing in The Southern Hemisphere This Winter
Instead of craving the adrenalin and excitement of your next ski or snowboard adventure, why not make the most of your gap year and enrol in a ski instructor course or a snowboard instructor course this summer?
Spend this July – September with the Winter Sports Company in New Zealand. Complete your ski or snowboard instructor training in just ten weeks, and you’ll be applying for jobs in the industry in time for the European winter.
In our 10-week course, you receive tuition from a dedicated instructor training centre and receive highly respected New Zealand qualifications. When you train and qualify with the Winter Sports Company at Cardrona, you will get priority in the recruitment process to return to work the following year. So you can start your gap year on a course and end it working as an instructor – how many people can boast success like that from a gap year?
Spend your days training in Cardrona, a mountain resort with the best powder, steeps and moguls in the southern hemisphere. The world-class snow parks and Olympic half-pipes have international ski and snowboard teams flocking here for summer training.
Spend your nights and downtime in the breathtaking Wanaka, a short journey from Cardrona. Wanaka is at the heart of New Zealand’s playground for snow enthusiasts, close to the famous Lake Wanaka, renowned for its spectacular natural beauty and a multitude of outdoor activities. You’ll never be short of things to do in the lively and welcoming town, with plenty of bars, restaurants, shops, and clubs.
Don’t fret about Visas – you do not need one to enrol in a course. However, visas are required if you wish to find work in New Zealand. Young people between 18 and 30 can apply for a New Zealand holiday working visa.
Once you’ve completed your training, the Winter Sports Company can help guide you in the direction of your first ski instructor job, or perhaps you’ll want to make the most of your gap year and enhance your ski or snowboard instructor qualification by enrolling on a Ski Patrol Course in Canada. The world is your oyster!
We have courses worldwide and a clear pathway to help you gain further education and qualifications. If you’re ready to work, many of our locations ar looking to hire qualified instructors for the northern hemisphere winter.
For our WSC clients enrolled on our northern hemisphere programs, we will hold a mid-season talk to offer some advice on working in the southern hemisphere. This will be your opportunity to ask any questions you may have about finding work, accommodation, etc. We can point you in the direction of ski schools and help put together a ski CV for job applications.
