Winter sports cover is necessary for anyone partaking in a ski or snowboard instructor course. Here we run through our recommendations, True Traveller, Fast Cover and Big Cat, and detail the questions you should be asking when receiving a quote for cover.
Insurance is one of the few things we don’t offer in our packages. The reason is that we’re not an insurance company ourselves, and policies vary by individual.
Insurance is more complicated than ever before, because of the globalised world. It’s not all doom and gloom, and as we move forward, so are insurance providers. Many companies now offer comprehensive covid cover for illness and subsequent cancellations.
Continue reading for links to insurance providers, who we feel offer suitable packages for ski and snowboarding instructor courses, and are worth contacting to discuss options.
If you are looking for 2 year Canadian working holiday visa insurance, please read our dedicated article here.
True Traveller offers comprehensive winter sports cover for UK and European residents.
This is an established company with the option of coverage for two years, and has strong winter sports cover. For instance their cover includes going off piste (but within resort boundary), terrain park (exclusions for jumping), and covers a ski or snowboarding instructing course. You can also add an Adventure Pack to your package to cover instructor work (manual work), but this is not necessary, as mentioned above.
If you do opt for the two year cover with winter sports, you essentially receive the ski cover for free in the second year.

2 year medical + wintersports (not inc Adventure Pack) – starting from – £876

There are so many providers out there all providing packages for different nationalities. Do your research, ask questions and check that you’re covered. Don’t risk the cheapest option without thoroughly reading their policy and asking the right questions:
1. How long am I covered to ski / board?
2. Am I covered for a course?
3. Can I work as an ski / board instructor?
4. What is your Covid policy?
5. What happens if I come home for a period?
6. Do you want your money back?
This latter question is also something to consider as unfortunately, in most circumstances we won’t refund anything if it’s 8 weeks or less before your departure. This is where your insurance comes in, so think about what you are willing to risk and get the suitable level of cover you’re happy with.
If you have any questions please contact us! However, we are not insurance providers, so legally we cannot recommend a policy.
