Hidden Valley – Mountain

Located in Southern Eastern Alberta, close to the border of Saskatchewan and Montana. Hidden Valley is a 3.5hr drive from Calgary International Airport (360km).

It is a small, unique, community-focused hidden gem next to Elkwater and close to the city of Medicine Hat. Situated in the Cypress Hills Provincial Park, the resort is currently operated by Alberta Parks and enjoys stunning scenery over the prairies, a compressed season (3.5 months) typically operating from mid-December to mid-March and an elevation of 1250m which is the same as Banff and is 600m above the surround Prairies.

This positions Hidden Valley in a unique mountain environment perfect for winter fun. Hidden Valley staff and visitors are local tourism focused and members of a passionate ski community.

As a community ski hill you will meet characters from the local community and be part of the team that is passionate about their little hill on the Prairies.

Hidden Valley – Resort

Perfect for your Winter Sports ski or snowboard instructor internship, Hidden Valley is well known for consistent snow conditions and friendly people. Here you will experience being part of the community and be able to embrace aspects of resort life and operations.
Hidden Valley is a safe environment in which to be introduced to snow sports or develop and practice skills. Like most community hills, Hidden Valley is the first Snowsports experience for many of its visitors. The slopes are diverse, providing challenges and the terrain park offers all the features you need, with rails, boxes, barrel taps and various sizes of jump to entertain and develop those skills.

The day lodge serves food and drinks. You will find the Mountain Side Cafe, Snowflake Lounge, and bring your own lunch areas to keep you fueled and hydrated.

Interns will stay in the village of Elkwater, a short bus ride away from Hidden Valley, where the facilities and trails with restaurants, a café, and hotel.

As a community ski hill you will meet characters from the local community and be part of the team that is passionate about their little hill on the Prairies.

Hidden Valley – Activities

The town of Elkwater has other activities to explore and is next to Elkwater Lake. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, outside ice skating and ice fishing are amongst the favorites.

Less than one hour drive from Hidden Valley is the city of Medicine Hat, where you will find everything you need from grocery stores, shopping mall, cinema, restaurants and bars. It’s easy to find a ride to Medicine Hat from Hidden Valley. Living in a small community, you will quickly know everyone, and ride-sharing is a way of life.

There are fantastic benefits of working at Hidden Valley. Consistent pay, outside of Vacation periods Hidden Valley operates 5 days a week which means all staff get the same days off. This gives opportunities to take a long weekend or mini-road trip. Banff, Sunshine, Lake Louise, and Castle Mountain are just a few hours car ride away for those craving a big mountain fix. In addition, staff can access reciprocal deals with many other Canadian Ski Resorts including Castle Mountain, Lake Louise, Mt Norquay and Marmot Basin.

Another great road trip to visit Edmonton, where it’s easy to spend your hard-earned cash. At the West Edmonton Mall, the largest in North America, there is an indoor water park, indoor theme park and plenty more to see and do.

Hidden Valley – Snow School

Hidden Valley prides itself on the quality of its snow school, and making Winter Sports interns feel at home is key to your and their success. Your instructor internship training will be led by experienced CASI and CSIA’s at the Panorama Mountain Resort and furthered by Hidden Valley staff who are involved in many aspects of resort life from experience gained from working all over the world in the ski industry.

As part of the snow school you may teach all ages and various ability levels as part of your development and get involved more deeply in resort operations.

You will be in safe hands, especially doing an instructor internship and teaching at the Hidden Valley snow school, because you are part of the family.
