Joss Englert shares his journey through our BASI Level 2 course in Verbier. From on-snow training and lesson planning to resort life. Discover how expert coaching and strong support helped him become a confident instructor.
“The course was excellent! There was plenty of course content to keep me busy and working hard. My knowledge of skiing and the experience I have gained have exceeded expectations. During and after my course, I was in regular contact with the Winter Sports Company, who were keen to hear about my progress” – Joss Englert
I genuinely enjoyed every minute of the BASI Level 2 course. The knowledge I gained and the experience on snow far exceeded my expectations. One of the best parts was the group I trained with. Everyone supported each other, whether it was planning lessons or making sense of classroom sessions.
Skiing knowledge: The amount of terminology, teaching tips, and stories from other instructors was invaluable.
Coaching support: Our coach answered every question and pushed us to achieve more. Thanks to his guidance, many of us passed our Level 2 exam on the first attempt.
Accommodation & meals: Our lodge was just a 5-minute walk from the lifts and 10 minutes from town, perfect for a season. Meals were hearty and always fuelled us for long days on snow (I didn’t realise just how much pasta Italians eat!).
Resort life: Verbier’s terrain was incredible. Even outside of training we found fresh powder daily and enjoyed everything the town had to offer.

Working with Interski was one of the highlights of my season. Because they don’t employ instructors for the full winter, new faces arrived each week, which kept the job fresh and conversations interesting.
The organisation and effort it takes to run smooth school trips across three resorts, with hundreds of children and a large team of instructors, was impressive to see up close. We were well looked after, and the experience gave me a real insight into how a professional ski school operates.
I enjoyed it so much that I applied to work with Interski again at the start of the following season.
