Joss Englert shares his journey through our BASI Level 2 course in Verbier. From on-snow training and lesson planning to resort life. Discover how expert coaching and strong support helped him become a confident instructor.
Joss Englert – “The course was excellent! There was plenty of course content to keep me busy and working hard. My knowledge of skiing and the experience I have gained have exceeded expectations. During and after my course, I was in regular contact with the Winter Sports Company, who were keen to hear about my progress”
I enjoyed every minute of the course. My knowledge of skiing and the experience I have gained have exceeded expectations. I was very fortunate to have an incredible group of people on the course who helped me if I struggled to plan a lesson or didn’t understand something in the classroom. The amount of skiing terminology, exciting stories from other instructors, and fun I had can not be put into words. We were very fortunate when it came to training as we had an excellent coach who answered all of my questions and, of course, helped me pass my level 2 exam. Without him, I think it’s safe to say many of us on the course may not have a BASI level 2 license – Click here to find out more about international equivalency
The accommodation was great, only a 5-minute walk from the lifts and a 10-minute walk to town, it was ideal for spending the season in. The food was hearty; I didn’t realise just how much pasta the Italians ate. It was a starter for 6 out of 7 days a week. Everyone enjoyed the meals, and they fueled us for long days on snow.
We could enjoy the fantastic ski resort when we weren’t training. With the extensive ski area, we were able to find fresh powder daily, and along with the town itself, I can’t think of many other places I would have rather spent the season.
Working for Interski was very enjoyable, as they don’t employ instructors for the entire season, new faces would turn up weekly, meaning conversations never got boring. We were well looked after by Interski, and the amount of work and effort required to ensure one week of the season ran smoothly over three resorts with hundreds of kids and a load of Instructors was extremely impressive. They do an excellent job out there, so much so that I have applied to work for them for the first week of the 14/15 season. We currently have instructor programs running in Verbier, Switzerland.
From start to finish, our team is here to support you and our past clients say it best.
“The support we received from WSC before the course was brilliant. They sent regular info packs and emails, so I left the UK feeling confident and in good hands.”
We don’t just drop you off at the resort and wish you luck. Our team is on location with you, helping to sort logistics, answer questions, and make sure you’re having the best experience possible.
“While the course was running, WSC were right there at the resort with us. We always knew exactly who to go to with any issues.”
It’s no surprise most of our new instructors come from word-of-mouth recommendations and returning guests.
“I’d 100% recommend the Winter Sports Company to anyone thinking about doing a gap course.”
