TOO MANY OPTIONS
Which is the best ski instructor course? A lot will come down to where you want to go, what qualification you want to achieve and your budget. Read our blog to help guide you through the process and select the right course for you.
RESCUE AND SAVE LIVES
The Mountain Patrol course is our most intense program, with up to 40hrs of training every week. It’s hard work and you need to be a strong skier to start with, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. But what is a Patrol Course and where can it lead you?
THE RIGHT CHOICE
A Ski Instructor Internship is undeniably one of the most popular options for those wanting to experience a full season. It’s the fastest way into the industry and helps spread the cost, but it’s not always the right choice for everyone.
Widest range of programs.
With so many choices, sometimes it’s hard to make the correct decision. Every ski instructor course is going to offer you a similar package. Ask questions, write things down and start a spreadsheet to compare. However, sometimes you want to talk to a human being! We’re always happy to help and offer a free phone consultation to find the right fit for you, even if it means suggesting a different route.
LOTS OF EXTRAS
At each resort we provide extra bolt on experiences that you can select. Some are for fun, while others give you another skill and qualification. Build the package you want and make your CV stand out from the rest. From first aid, to back country and hockey nights, there’s a large range to keep everyone happy.
YOUR PERFECT JOB
Our jobs page is updated monthly with positions from around the world but due to COVID jobs have been a little harder to come by. However, things will be back to normal and the job market should start to heat up again. Until then it’s a perfect time to work on your training and CV. We’ve added some good advise in this BLOG
We pride ourselves on offering the best service. You’ll speak with the directors of the company, who are there to support you all the way. Once in Resort, you’ll be greeted by one of our brilliant Reps, who are at the resort for the season. Reps make sure everything runs smoothly and are on hand should you need any help.
Ski Instructor Course Qualifications Available
The Canadian Ski Instructor Alliance “CSIA” is the governing body in Canada. It is part of the ISIA and is highly regarded and recognised around the world. At Winter Sports we provide comprehensive training up to CSIA Level 3. Additionally, you can train in other ancillary courses from associations such as the Canadian Adaptive Snow Sports and Avalanche Canada.
Our courses in New Zealand provide training towards the New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance “NZSIA” certified qualifications. There are again options to train up to Level 3, as well as compressed courses for experienced skiers wishing to reach L2 in the shortest period of time.
In Europe, we focus on the ‘BASI’ system which is The British Association of Snow Sports Instructors. BASI is again part of the ISIA and accordingly, recognised worldwide. It is also one of the few tickets that will let you enter the French system once having completed the speed test.

Thank you again for running a company that provides us with such an opportunity, it was certainly the experience of a lifetime and I can’t wait to get back next season.
I really enjoyed the 18 weeks of training, to become dual-certified in one season was amazing. Sun Peaks is great because you always bump into friends, can meet instructors in the bars and also make friends in the town.
I had a fabulous season in Sun Peaks becoming CASI and CSIA dual certified. Winter Sports also arranged for me to do the Adaptive Sports Level 1 so it was a full packed 18 weeks. I had great fun with the rest of the guys on the course and made some amazing friends. Thanks Wintersports!
I’ve just returned from the 2018/19 season with Winter Sports & it was amazing, I was all sad to leave! The best part though was the people. We all got on so well & the instructors were incredible, they completely changed our skiing! We had a great rep on hand 24/7 as well so for us it couldn’t have been better. Thanks for a great season Winter Sports!
Arriving by yourself wasn’t a problem considering everyone else was doing the same and there was chances to make friends with a wide range of people. We were all taken very good care of, the hotel was nice and the staff were friendly. I loved the resort so much I now live here.
Winter Sports look after you the whole way and look out for you to make your season the best it can be and the most productive with all the extra courses you can do. I would highly recommend a season with Winter Sports.
The instructors were amazing, everyone knew how to improve you in their own different ways, which made your skiing ability and your teaching ability improve every day.
The Internship course was great and packed full of experience. It definitely helped me when applying for jobs. It made me stand out in front of the crowd. Without The Winter Sports Company I would not be where I am today.
The best part of being a ski instructor is definitely the early morning skiing, every day we got the chance to warm up and train with top-level instructors before the mountain opened to the public. That meant I got the best training in resort and fresh tracks every single day!
The whole course feels like you are all friends helping one another to improve, there is no ‘teacher/student’ strict boundaries which makes the whole experience more enjoyable. I have certainly improved my own skiing and feel very confident with being able to teach others of all ages.
The training was brilliant everyone in the group had their own things to work on and successfully completed all the courses. I felt the training worked to everyone’s comfortable pace and was instructed by the some of the best instructors in Canada.
Thank Winter Sports Company for providing me with a once in a life time opportunity and making my first full season so enjoyable.
